Goal of Trail Paddle

The Tip of the Thumb Heritage Water Trail is located on Lake Huron. It is 113 miles long and encompasses the shorelines of Huron and Tuscola County. There are 25 public access points to the trail.

Goal: To inventory the trail by paddling the entire trail from beginning to end. In the process I will document and photograph:
Quality of access points
Distance and time it takes to paddle to each access point
Points of interest
Hazards
Wildlife
Places to stay along the trail (camping)
Character and difficulty of each section of the trail
Possible future access points

Future Uses of Inventory:
Create a trail guide
Create a business plan for future development and improvements to the trail
Create a map
Identify existing and possible future camping sites
Identify shorter trail routes within the Tip of the Thumb Heritage Water Trail for less experienced kayakers and those that do not have the time to do the entire trail
